Hello friends!
This morning me and the kittens moved furniture around in the craft room (yes again!)  I never seem to be able to find a configuration that I like and that works but hopefully this one will work.  Miss Lily really loves it when we move things around, all new places to investigate and sniff, more high places to climb up on.  Here she is on top of an expedit unit under the sloping ceiling.

Today’s Art . . .

For today’s art I am sharing the page for Day 18 of my #eotcartjournalaugust prompt which was SAND/CASTLE, so it could be sand, or castle or sandcastle.

Day 18 SAND/CASTLE #eotcartjournalaugust

This was really fun to do.  I had been working out the idea in my head today while I was moving stuff around, so I was itching to get started on it when I had cleared a space on the desk.

I started off by making the little Polaroids so I measured them out on a sheet of watercolour paper and taped them off before starting to paint.

Once they were dry, I peeled off the tape and then cut them up in to Polaroid size.

I really liked how the Polaroids looked so I decided to make my journal page the same way and taped it off around the edges before painting it in a similar way.  Seaside holidays, sandcastles, sand writing, and Polaroids are all things that remind me of my childhood, so I am also linking this page to Chris’s theme over on Art Journal Journey, link below. And I am also joining the Funkie Junkie’s “Chillin in the heat” challenge with the cool blue and greens of the sky and ocean.

Let me know what you think in the comments.   As always, thanks for reading!

What a fabulous set of drawings, Elle. Your polaroids turned out great. I can’t believe you drew all those sandcastles. Great job. Perfect for Chris’s theme at Art Journal Journey, too.

Ohmygoodness!!!
SOoooo BEAUTIFUL!!!!
Having always had some kind of camera in my hand since I was a child practicing with my parents’ or grandparents’ cameras… you simply had me with “Polaroid”, but then, you threw in sandcastles (making each different ?), seashore, and sunshiney blue sky! How very CLEVER of an idea that I’m adding to my files! You’ll be etched by me!!
Thanks so very much for joining us over at The Funkie Junkie Boutique, & PLEASE show off more of your work with us there!!

I’m really enjoying your challenge themes Elle. I love your little ‘Polaroids’. Brings back happy ‘sandcastles on the beach’ days. I took a bit of inspiration from your art again today 😉
Miss Lily is looking very beautiful again <3

That is a great photo of Miss LIly. It looks like you staged it. And what a great expression. And what a super beach page. I love the Polaroid idea. That is certainly retro, and really links this to Chris’ When We Were Young challenge. Thanks for sharing this with us at AJJ. Have a great end of your week Elle. hugs-Erika
