Hi Friends,

Hope your weekend is going well.  Today I am sharing a double page spread based on yesterday’s and today’s prompts.

Today’s Art . . .

Today’s art is a double page spread using my Day 21 & 22 prompts:  Poison Apple and Mirror Mirror

I started off this page by trying to work out how to draw a hand holding an apple lol. I don’t think I’ve ever tried to draw that before and it was a little tricky.  I even tried to draw my own hand holding an apple but it was hard to see the right angle without using a mirror, and I couldn’t be bothered getting off the couch to go look for one so I persevered (luckily in pencil) till it started to look a bit like a real hand.

When I doing that I realised that maybe I could combine the poison apple prompt and the next prompt into a combo page with one hand holding an apple and the other holding a mirror.

I used Pitt pens for the apple and the hand, and then neocolours for the rest of the page. I started with red nails on the hand but I didn’t like them so I ended up painting them black.  I added some metallic watercolour to the apple and the nails.

When that was done, I started on the second page.  I had a leftover diecut frame that I had cut multiples off with my big shot, and made into mirrors some time ago, so I rummaged around until I found it, and added it as a hand mirror.

Fun fact – Mirror mirror on the wall, comes from the original source material ie the written fairytale, but in the Disney Snow White cartoon, for some unknown reason, the Queen says magic mirror on the wall.

When I was rummaging around, I also found this little mirror that has a face profile on one side. ok paper that was covered in a dense, dark floral pattern and was leftover from something else.

Hope you feel inspired to join in the challenge this month and have fun with it!

Let me know what you think in the comments.   As always, thanks for reading!

Daily Prompts

Here are the prompts I will be using and you can probably tell that a lot of them are related to fairytales, but you don’t have to use them that way or you don’t have to use them at all.  I will be attempting all 31 days but I may not make it and that’s OK too.  The prompts are there if you feel stuck or in need of extra inspiration.   I just respond well to a daily prompt and I will also be sharing my pages on Instagram.  If you share your work on Instagram there is a hashtag.  Please note, that to enter the Art Journal Journey challenge using the Mr Linky tool, you will have to link from a blog since it is a blog challenge.

Or you can ignore the daily prompts completely and focus on the overarching theme for the month.  The daily prompts are there if you want to make more pages but need some extra prompting.

OK, I am officially impressed with the way you brought those two themes?prompts together. I love how you drew the hands. The two I created pale badly in comparison to the beauties you shared. They are phenomenal. Thanks for sharing both of these with us at Art Journal Journey using your theme.

That hand with the apple is scary because it’s so well done Elle. Nice. I have a poison apple page for later this week. And I like your mirror too. I like how you used that sparkle die cut to make the frame and how it pops up a bit off the page. These are great Elle. Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend. Hugs-Erika

Very BIG WOW on both drawings!
Especially on the hand!
Yes, I love that fairytale, too. Let´s see which one will be shown today after Die Maus!
