Happy Friday Friends!

This is been a very fast week, it’s just flown by and I feel like I haven’t really achieved much since Monday.  Anyway, at least I did get some reading done and also a couple of art journal pages.  Many other things remain undone though.  Perhaps over the weekend I can check those off the list!

Today’s Art . . .

Today’s art is actually two junk journal pages for  #JunkJournalJanuary and one of them also includes one of my photos so I am linking it to AJJ also, where the theme is to use a photo.

Day 9 Hidden (and photo)

The prompt for Day 9 is Hidden so I thought I would create a folded flap that would open and reveal what was hidden underneath.

This entire journal is made from Christmas food packaging and boxes that I saved from going into the bin, like this box of vegan chocolate and mint shortbread.  BTW this was awful and I don’t recommend buying it, the mint was overwhelming, but at least I can put the box to good use and I get a minty scented journal!  My pages in this journal are roughly 8 x 8 inches and this box gives me that plus one of the sides as the flap so it worked out well.

The photo I am using is one of my frosty garden pics from December…
I printed it off a few times in different sizes…

For my background I used these watercoloured pieces that I printed with an embossing folder at least two years ago, so nice to get them used in something.

When the flap is opened the full inside spread is revealed including a little secret pocket on the right side, where a tag or something can be tucked away.

Day 11 Pocket

For this page I am using another piece of the embossing folder printed card, this time in pinks.  On top there are a lot of bits and pieces recycled from other projects, or saved from the recycling.  The white card with the eucalyptus leaves on it is actually from a box that had a Christmas pudding in it, but I added the blue paper and the teabag sachet on top to hit the product and supermarket names.  The girl in the hat and scarf is a sticker that I cut off a padded post bag from an order I received about 4 years ago.  They were just too nice to throw out so again, glad I found a place for her.

As the prompt for the day was pocket I ended up adding two pockets – the teabag sachet is cut along the bottom and the tag inserted, and then the dark pink floral paper is also another pocket where I have inserted the green tag and the green and black bookmark.

Let me know what you think in the comments.   As always, thanks for reading!

I love your pages Elle. The frosty photo looks wonderful. I had finally caught up and had 2 days of vertigo where I could hardly do a thing on my own! I’ve been catching up since! Sorry your biscuits were such a disappointment . Hugs, Chrisx

Your journal pages are fun Elle. I like how you used that beautiful frosty photo. And how you made the flip for the theme of hidden. And Does your journal actually smell minty? I like the idea of mint and chocolate shortbread, but you’re right about something being too much mint. Happy weekend. And thanks for sharing this with us at AJJ. hugs-Erika

I am in LOVE with your recycling efforts. It pays to save everything, doesn’t it? Both of these junk journal pages are fabulous. So enjoyed seeing the photo of your icy plant, too. Thanks for sharing your Day 9 page with us at AJJ using Mia’s theme. I absolutely LOVE both of these entries.

Dear Elle, the journal looks great – and I really like your icy garden photo too! Too bad the vegan chocolate and mint shortbread didn’t taste good, but you upcycled the packaging perfectly!
I send tender cat scratches!
All the best from Austria
