Hi Friends!
Hope you are having a great Friday. This is a page for Erika’s theme over on Art Journal Journey this month, where the theme is Seeing Red.
Today’s Art . . .
This page is made from a gift bag. I was pretty sure I snapped a photo of it before I cut it up but I can’t see it so perhaps I didn’t. Anyway if you rotate the page 90 degrees clockwise then that’s what the side of the gift bag looked like – horizontal black and white stripes and the roses in the bottom left corner – you can still see the two holes where the red ribbon handle used to be.
I’ve been holding on to this gift bag for a few years because the gift was still inside it. Shameful I know, but I just didn’t know what to do with it, so I put in the cupboard. But then I forgot about it. Now the gift is out of it but I didn’t want to throw out the bag, so I thought it would be perfect for Erika’s theme. I admit to just staring at it for a while wondering what to do with it since it was quite a bold design, but then I started to cover it up a little bit with the tissue papers and the rose gift tag and ribbon, act as a tuck spot/pocket for popping in a few more gift cards. I found these tiny red heart stickers so I popped a few of them on the page too and finished off with some splashes of acrylic ink. The words were printed out from the computer and glued in place.
Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading!

Art Journal Journey – Seeing Red
To me, the main thing I read was you recycled the bag. It is beautiful after you added your own touches and turned it into a journal page.
This is a stunning page Elle! The gift bag is a perfect base for your page! Thanks for sharing at AJJ and Erika’s theme. Hugs, Chrisx
Thanks for the inspiration today Elle. I have a printed shopping bag on the floor next to my work table and I was trying to figure out how to use it. It didn’t dawn on me to chop it up. I know what I’m doing today-smile. This is a really lovely page, and I especially like the red roses. And the ribbon. Was that a bag handle? Thank you again for linking up. I know you said red wasn’t a favorite color of yours, but you are really rocking it this much. Have a super start to your weekend. hugs-Erika
