Hi Friends!
I had some time today so I thought I would join in with the WOYWW gang again – it’s been a while – two years in fact. Literally two years this month! Um no, I just checked and it’s actually two years in November! Hope you don’t mind me popping in after such a long absence. My eyes are bad today, medication is still a problem and my screen time is still limited. It’s so cold here today with the added bonus of wind and rain but I just got back from yoga class and I’m feeling quite zen about everything. But not quite as zen as this little girl… on my desk. It’s Miss Lily in one of her favourite spots, one she doesn’t share with any other kitties! The rest of the desk is a total mess as you will see in the last post, but I did have to keep this spot clear for her as she likes to watch me work. If she has her own space, then she is more likely to stick to it and not walk all over whatever I’m working on.
Today’s Art . . .
Today’s art is a journal page Neet’s theme this month on Art Journal Journey – In Gear. This is another page in which I am reusing an old card that would otherwise be rotting away in a box in a dark cupboard, but now it has new life in my journal where I will see it from time to time and it’s more accessible.
The original card was made back in January 2020 before the whole world went to crap. The original post with all the details of how it was made is here. The cogs and gears etc are chipboard pieces and the letters were cut from cat food boxes using a TH Sizzix die. Everything was heat embossed with black embossing powder.
So that was the card, and for the journal page I just covered the whole thing with this red tartan paper, edged it all with black and silver wax like the card, and did some journalling on the left hand side. The “card” is still a card so it opens and I can do more journalling inside if needed.
Another desk view, this time an in-process shot of today’s desk, bit of a mess really but just enough space to work on my journal and get this done today. I much prefer the desk view with Miss Lily than the one of my messy desk. You can just see her little bed (actually a piece of very expensive fabric that was not intended to be used as a kitten bed but what can you do!) to the left of my journal.
Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading and Happy Journalling!

How gorgeous is Miss Lily, she must love this cozy spot ?. Your Steampunk page is amazing, loving the colours and design. Happy wishes ??. Hugs, Jo x
I missed commenting last week so had to pop i for this week – I’ve already commented on the new ones THIS week so why not? :D. LOVE your steampunk journal but sorry to hear you are struggling. It really is lovely to see you posting again.I have a (mostly) black cat myself now so seeing yours makes me smile!
Hope the eyes improve – meds that make you feel both better AND worse really suck!
Getting visits in early on DDs Birthday!

Hi Elle! Welcome back, and Mittsy and Inky welcome Lily back too! What a beautiful kitty she is too! Our cats get all the good places to sleep whether we want them to sleep there or not! I think we are living with them, not them living with us! They just allow us to pet and feed them! Wouldn’t have it any other way. You Steampunk card is wonderful! I love the colours and the intricasies of it all. Have a great week, Lindart #19
Hi Elle, I’m sorry about your eyes. It hasn’t hindered your art at all. This is a stunning piece. I love it so much. I like your art space too. I could use a shelf like that. LOL
It’s great to see you Elle, and Lily too of course. I think the expensive piece of fabric thing….you’re well owned by your cat! I do love the steampunk journal page, great way to reuse a card…as you say, they do sit in a box rarely to be seen, huh! I also love the black and white background you’ve photographed the journal against!
Your working space is looking like mine right now. Funny I work better with some mess (not too much), but I think seeing bits and media on the work table gives me ideas what to do with it. I like your steampunk heart, and the red tartan. Very Scottish (smile) and very cool. Thanks for joining AJJ again for Neet’s challenge. And I hope it warms back up, at least a little bit. It’s about time to pull out my flannel bedding I think, because the nights are chilly. hugs-Erika
Loving your kitty she looks very comfy. It’s always good to see friends of the woyww group, time is not important. Late today so going round as quick as poss. Take care and happy woyww, Angela x14x
Great journal page, love the lettering. Happy WOYWW Angela #13
I’m always impressed with the way you recycle your cards. Of course using cat food boxes to die cut the letters was brilliant and a great way to recycle. This is a wonderful entry for Neet’s theme at AJJ, too. Love the cogs and that heart.
Miss Lily looks zoned out on that expensive fabric. I can see why she would be attracted to it. Happy WOYWW from #2. BTW, it was nice to see you back at the desks. I go long spells, too, and Julia welcomes me back just as if I had been there every week!
Good to see you again! Some fab projects to share too. Happy WOYWW Helen #4
