Hi friends!
Happy Tuesday! Well last week didn’t work out as planned. Turns out my cold was actually flu and I spent most of the week in bed with flu symptoms and exhaustion (having to move all that wood didn’t help!) Apologies for not getting around to everyone but I was flat on my back and had no energy to even eat never mind switch on a computer. Let’s just say, it was not a great week. It’s not completely gone yet but at least I can function. I did no art at all, and got really behind with posting my Christmas cards too which means that they will probably all arrive late now, especially the overseas ones. By Sunday I felt well enough to write out some cards and do a bit of catch-up journalling but I really had no energy at all. I had to keep taking breaks just to sit down and breath. Much much later than planned, I also managed to put the tree up but I was just so tired that it almost didn’t happen. I had to keep talking myself into dragging out the decorations, assembling the tree, finding batteries for the lights etc – versus the much more appealing option of putting the box back upstairs and having a lie down.
The fact that Miss Lily has her eye on that silver star and won’t leave it alone (that’s why she’s on top of the bookcase), and her brother, Mr G, is constantly trying to eat the branches at the bottom of the tree makes it all worthwhile doesn’t it? haha at least the cats appreciate my efforts!
Today’s Art . . .
For today’s art I am taking a break from showing all the journal pages for all the daily challenges I am doing/was doing, and instead I am showing you a set of “infinity cards” that I made for my book group friends before I got sick. The above photo may look like four different cards but they are in fact all different sides of the same card – and I made five of them, which considering each card has four sides, was a lot more like making twenty cards than it was making five cards! Bear this in mind if you want to try it! It was very time consuming! I always try to do something different to the rest of the cards I send out to everyone else, and I had in my mind some kind of interactive card – my initial thought was a concertina card that they could open up and display as Christmas decor – but then by chance I came across this post on the Paperartsy blog from a few years ago, and thought that this infinity card would do the trick! In the blog post Etsuko references this post on how to cut and assemble the basic card which you can then decorate as you choose. That post has all the details you need to be able to make the card, plus a handy video.
I used a couple of the same Lynne Perrella stamps that Etsuko used but not all of them, plus I added in other stamps from Alison Bomber and Scrapcosy to make my non-traditional Christmas/Winter cards. Here is how the card looks when it comes out of the envelope – side one…
Then it opens up like barn doors to reveal the second side…
Then this opens up top to bottom to reveal the third side…
And then the third side opens like doors again to reveal the fourth side…
And finally the fourth and last side opens to take us back to side one again.
If you’ve never seen one of these cards in action, and I know my non-cardmaking recipients haven’t, I made a short video to show it works…
T Stands For . . .
I wanted to buy my friend a “dog mum” mug like my beloved “cat mum” mug as I saw they had been restocked for Christmas but they were all gone again from the shelves and I missed out. However, it a different shop I did find these which made me laugh (with the truth of the statement lol) so I decided to get one for her and of course one for my cat loving friend.
Oh before I forget, I rescued a seagull at the weekend. Sorry no photos, I was too busy rescuing the bird! I was driving out from home, and there it was just sitting in the middle of the road. This particular road is a country back road, but still busy enough plus lots of tractors use it and although I swerved to avoid it, I was fairly sure something bigger would not, or perhaps not even see it. So I stopped the car, walked back, and had a look at it – I couldn’t see any blood or injuries. It watched me but didn’t try to get away. So I picked it up and sat it on the side of the road, next to the hedge, as far from the road as possible. There was quite a bit of flapping but it seemed very calm considering. I wondered if it had already been hit by a car and was perhaps dazed. I got back in my car but then didn’t feel good about leaving it there so I called the SSPCA. I was on hold in a queue for 22 mins !!! I finally got through and they took the details and said they would send someone out if I would wait there for 30 mins. I drove back home to get a cardboard box to put the bird in, and wait for the SSPCA to show up. Thirty minutes went by and no SSPCA. Then I walked back to check on the bird and it took off! I’m glad I moved it off the road otherwise it might not have been so lucky as to get the chance to recover. Avian flu is still rife here but I was wearing gloves so I was quite safe. A lot of people don’t like seagulls, they can be pests, but I couldn’t leave any animal lying helpless on the road (reminds me of the time I rescued a mole!)
So that’s it for me today, I am still feeling exhausted but it’s getting so close to Christmas and there is so much still to be done, that I am having to force myself to get on with things, but I am falling asleep on the sofa every evening, exhausted. I see Elizabeth’s T post is already up so let me also make an early start on Tuesday and link up.
Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading and Happy Tea Day!Ingredients

PS: If you’re wondering what the question marks at the end of my comment are about: In the original they were nice emojis with Christmas trees, hearts, etc.
Dear Elle,
I’m late…! Thanks for your comment, you asked if you landed on the right post as the link from T party had 2x htmls. Thanks for the hint, I corrected that later. And YES, it WAS the right post 🙂
I’m sorry that you got so sick, but I can understand you well. I struggled with flu symptoms waxing and waning for most of the fall this year. And I’m tired a lot more often now than before. The doctor said that after the Covid era, we all have a weakened immune system, so every infection sets us back more than before.
Glad your cats appreciate your efforts 😉
Your cards look really time consuming but wonderful and very special!
You also took a lot of time for the bird – I understand you well, I couldn’t have just left the seagull to its own devices… It doesn’t necessarily make life easier if you love animals and are good to them, but it makes life richer, doesn’t it?
I wish you and everyone you love (people and animals) a wonderful Christmas ???? and a happy new year ??! Be well soon!
All the best from Austria, Traude

Yuk, the flu. I’m sorry.
Oh dear, hope you get your energy back soon! I made an infinity card for one of my sons one year. He loves kinetic cards so he has had a few over the years! Well done for the seagull rescue, without your help he may not have survived! Great mugs, Happy T Day, Chrisx
Read the comment you left. Your card IS NOT in the mail. I’m still having trouble getting my life together. It IS in progress, though. I need to send you an e-mail before I can send yours.
Hi Elle. Love your beautiful creations! Sorry you had flu, I can imagine how exausted you are. You were brave to rexcue the gull, they can be quite aggressive sometimes. Happy T day, merry Christmas, hugs, Valerie
I’m glad you’re feeling better. Such cool cards! Pests or not, they deserve care and attention and help. Good for you! Happy T Tuesday!
Wow, what amazing cards! I bet they took ages to make with all the beautiful detail ??. Im glad to hear that you are feeling better and it sounds like your kitty cats appreciate the Christmas decs …lol! You are so kind to rescue the seagull too and I love the mugs you found. Take care and sorry I haven’t been around much this month, we’ve been visiting family and went to Prague for a few days, it was very Christmasy and we had an amazing time. Wishing you joy and happiness, Merry Christmas! Hugs, Jo x
Hubs and i save turtles!! Ofcourse we would stop and save any animal just like you but for us it seems to be turtles.. Even big old not friendly snapping turtles… So great you saved the SeaGull.. Reminds me of the time hubby and i took the ferry boat over to Denmark to get married.. While waiting for the ferry to depart we started feeding the SeaGulls .. The boat captain came out and yelled at us , apparently telling us that we were attracting more SeaGulls and they pooped on his boat…lol
Hubs and i have been sick with allergies and sinus issues all Fall but thankfully knock on wood we’ve managed to not catch the flu or Covid or any of that.. I sure hope you feel better soon.. Oh! and Sunrise here is 7:37 am… first light is 7:10am .. I usually manage to get out the door somewhere between those two times… There’s enough light to see by but the Sun is not in my face… Happy T day! Hugs! deb
The Flu is so bad. Take care, rest and here is healing energy for you. I love the cards. Just brilliant. I like the mug too.
