Hello Friends!
I’m back with more of last week’s arting! I have a few birthdays to make for in August, I am behind, but I managed to get these two cards done – they were a priority since they needed to be posted overseas – I am still on crutches FYI, six months and counting! It’s impossible to get to a post office on my own atm.
The first thing you will probably notice is that both cards are using the same die cut sentiment for the front but the backgrounds and colour palettes are very different. This first card was made from collaged gel prints and gold paint with some splattery paint and ink on top and then a bunch of random stamping in different colours. It’s a technique I really enjoy doing. I also stamped over the entire envelope using the same stamp set and various blue inks.
Cool palette card Ingredients: watercolour paper, gel prints, book paper, gold paint, diecut letters, poscas, versafine clair inks, distress ink, cardstock, sizzix dies, fluorescent green ink,
For the second card, I found this background that I made back in May 2020 for a couple of summer challenges. I did end up making a card for those challenges but this background was a spare. If you look at the original post you will see what this background originally looked like (minus the flowers and citrus diecuts) it really just consisted of the pink/yellow/orange colour with those little heat embossed wheels on top – to me they look like colour wheels but they are supposed to be orange slices. To make this birthday card, I added more colour, in the way of multicoloured pink/yellow/orange stamping using multiple stamps and lots of splattery ink in yellows and pinks and fluorescent orange. The card uses the same diecut sentiment but this time painted pink, and of course I decorated the entire envelope using similar colours and stamps. It’s a bit bright so I really hope she likes it! My friend lives overseas and we used to exchange gifts but now Brexit has ruined that for us due to import fees and increased postage charges, so now we exchange cards and try to include something small and light and crafty inside the card. Inside this card I put some journal cards, some stamped images and some little bits and pieces. It’s small and light enough that it can be posted as a letter and doesn’t require a customs label!

Creative Artiste – Challenge #107 – August
I really love the scrappy card, Elle! It’s so much fun tearing up scraps and matching up the colors, isn’t it? (I’ve made something similar for my sister’s birthday… Shh! 😉 ) The color schemes for both cards are so lovely, and I like all that texture too. Too bad about Brexit, but it’s wonderful that you still send your love to dear ones. Thank you so much for sharing these cards with Creative Artiste for our Anything Mixed Media Goes challenge!
