I’m back with more of last week’s art journalling. As mentioned in the previous post, I wanted to catch up with a challenge that I started but didn’t get to do due to injury. It’s a challenge called #Scrappy8 run by eight people for eight months on Instagram, February to September. I started with the August page and then went back to February and worked forward.
Today I am sharing the August page for that challenge, which I did last week. The August prompt was “Salt”. I actually did the salt technique on the watercolour papers, both the green and the pink papers you see on the background, but they didn’t work very well as I rushed it. So I then raided the kitchen to look for “salt” items and found some Kallo very low salt organic vegetable stock cube packaging, a Starbucks salted caramel hot chocolate sachet and some bath salts from the Holy Island. I tried to arrange them all on my page in a way that made sense and added a few extra things, including these three little stamped animals that I did at the beginning of the year and never used. There is an owl, a fox and I think it’s a chicken. The chicken is hiding behind the bath salts but you can see her revealed to the right of the photo. The holder for the hot chocolate is also from some bath product packaging, and it will come in handy for storing emergency hot chocolate in case I run out. The empty packet can slide out the top and the new full packet can take its place.
