Hello Friends!

I’m back with more of last week’s art journalling.  As mentioned in the previous post, I wanted to catch up with a challenge that I started but didn’t get to do due to injury. It’s a challenge called #Scrappy8 run by eight people for eight months on Instagram, February to September.

Today I am sharing the June and July pages for that challenge, both of which I did last week.  The page above is the June page and the prompt was “Makes My Heart Sing”.   This page also has a collage background using some old gel prints, origami paper and cat food packaging (the paw prints).  What else would make my heart sing but a page full of kitties!  I had been cleaning out some old paperwork and found this envelope from the Cats Protection and it just seemed to fit so well with this theme that I knew I had to use it. I also added an extra cat and some flowers made from teabags leftover from my Junk Journal July page with the teabags.  Since the envelope was one with a window, I thought I would add something fun for the inside, and made this tag.  This is an old gel print left over from 2022 and the MEOW on the bottom is from a cat food packet.  I punched a hole in the top of the tag and added a gold eyelet and some twine.  There are a few words cut from a magazine (golden hour, feels like sunshine), some TH stickers (make my), lots of paint splatters in yellow and gold, and some neocolours and distress inks around the edges of the page and the tag.

A certain little kitty got a little too interested in these letters as I was die cutting and attempting to arrange them on the page, and she kept swiping – and trying to eat – the H letter lol.

The second page I wanted to share is the July page, also made last week, and the prompt for that one was “Trash to Treasure”.  I loved this one as I *do* love raiding the recycling bin!  On the left is the finished page and on the right you can see some of the bits and pieces I pulled from the bin including – Pukka tea sachets, Tony’s chocolate wrapper (this covers the whole page), cat food packaging, cat treat packaging (Catnip Dreamies FTW!!!) some words cut from a free summer magazine,  some sunflower seed packaging (the green and gold mandalas).

These two pages live side by side in this little concertina booklet I created for this challenge.  In the next post I will share the August page which means I am completely up to date with this challenge now and excited to see what the September prompt will be so I can finish my little book while I am still motivated and mobile (to a point!).

This month Jo from Let’s Art Journal is hosting her theme “Wonderfully Wild” on Art Journal Journey.  I am linking the first page to AJJ for the kitty out in the field of wildflowers.  I would also like to link to Creative Artiste’s mixed media challenge #107, link is below.

Let me know what you think in the comments below.   As always, thanks for reading and Happy Journalling!Ingredients

Love seeing these gorgeous pages with all those lovely cats on them and even your real cat. Cats make my heart sing too. I love how you’ve used those tea bag packages too – that’s a great idea. Thanks for sharing with us at Creative Artiste Mixed Media

Two wonderfully creative collaged pages Elle. Gorgeous, soft colours and fabulous teabag textures for June and striking colours and beautiful mandalas in July. So much lovely interest on both pages.
Thank you for joining in with our August challenge “Anything Mixed Media Goes” at Creative Artiste Mixed Media. Good luck! x

These are also such fun pages Elle. Of course you’d have kitties. I would be. Wry surprised if you did a god page. Grin. I love the pocket too. And ha ha since the page is about kitties that a certain little
Kitty wanted to spell the word her way- with no H. I love the bin raided page too, and I even spied a toucan in that one. I hope you have a super new week, and thanks for joining Jo’s challenge too. Hugs Erika
