Hi Friends!
Hope your week has been good so far. Did I mention the other day that I am still on crutches at least until the next hospital visit? That would be nine months now and it is beginning to seem more normal than I would like :(. My back is still seized up too so it is making things a little difficult (and painful) at the moment, but hey at least I have art and cats to make me smile. I’m glad I went for the simple option of painting some watercolour backgrounds for my pages this month otherwise I don’t think I would have been able to do anything. As it is, most of this is done standing up now. :/
Today’s art . . .
Today I am sharing three more pages from this month’s journal created for #NoSewNovember Instagram challenge hosted by @megjournals and two of the pages are also created with Wendy’s theme of On, In or By the Sea over on Art Journal Journey in mind.
Day 4 – link
I’m happiest when I’m with you. This is also a page for Wendy’s theme as these two cats are on a date at the aquarium or underwater world. Their tails are linked (for the link prompt) as they stare at all the tropical fish together – maybe they are choosing dinner!
(Watercolour background, salt, gold paint and gold pen, Jane Davenport Mermaid marker splatters in Milky Way, washi tapes, TH small talk sticker, Kate Crane/Paperartsy fish stamp, stazon ink, posca markers, leftover black glitter diecut cats.)
Day 5 -blend
Life is not a fairy tale – if you lose a shoe at midnight, you’re drunk. For the “blend” prompt I went with ink blending, and used Distress inks on watercolour paper, and also used the mop up paper towel for the background, and some alcohol ink blending on the diecut frog. It seemed a shame to throw out the paper towel when it was covered all these vibrant colours so I let it dry and then stuck it down on my page to be the background. The frog, cat and broom were already cut and leftover from Halloween makes, and I was thinking of using this Tim Holtz snarky sticker, so I quickly cut the witches shoes using another die and coloured it with Pitt artist pens.
(Watercolour paper background covered with mop up paper towel,Distress ink blended cardstock, various leftover diecuts, alcohol ink and DIstress oxide on the frog, TH snarky sticker, gold crown I cut from scrap card, Distress ink, glue, Pitt artist pens on the broom and witch legs, TH cello stickers)
Day 6 – intertwine
They swam out to sea. This is also a page for Wendy’s theme. These are supposed to be jellyfish, hopefully they look enough like them to get the idea across. I was thinking about the “intertwine” prompt for day 6 and immediately thought of jellyfish floating in the sea with all their tentacles floating about and intertwining with each other. This time, before I started watercolouring, I drew the jellyfish using a white neocolour I crayon to create a resist, then painted over them in the same way as the other pages.
Watercolour background, white neocolor I, Jane Davenport Mermaid marker splatters in Bluebottle, TH clipping sticker and cello stickers, pencil, black pen, Pitt artist pens,
Let me know what you think in the comments below. As always, thanks for reading and Happy journalling!Ingredients

Art Journal Journey – On, In or By the Sea
Mystical and fantastic, beautiful pages full of ideas!
I hope you get well soon, hugs Elke
I love your latest entries for No Sew November. My favorite has to be the cat staring at the fish tank.. Of course I like the frog and the drunk saying,. too. Yes, those look like jellyfish to me. They are a great addition to Wendy’s theme at AJJ. Thanks for sharing.,
Three more lovely pages in your journal, love the cats looking at the aquarium. Thank you for anther great entry for my theme on AJJ.
What fun pages Elle.. I love the kitty watching those fish. Do you think they’ll actually get to eat one? Cute frog. I’ve seen that die, and I like how you gave him a crown. I guess he’s the prince waiting for a kiss. And I think my favorite is the jellyfish. It works great with the white crayon and the watercolors. Thanks for joining Wendy’s challenge with these pages. It’s almost like a visit to an aquarium and we get to see 3 tanks. Have a great rest of your week. hugs-Erika
Like Mr Frog a lot. So fun.
