Hi Friends!
Happy weekend! Hope it’s a good one. Let’s get on with the art and I need to have a lie down…
Today’s art . . .
Today I am sharing three more pages from this month’s journal created for #NoSewNovember Instagram challenge hosted by @megjournals and one page of which was created with Wendy’s theme of On, In or By the Sea over on Art Journal Journey in mind – can you guess which one? 🙂
This has another watercolour background – remember I painted them all at the same time and then cut them to size, so I had some backgrounds prepared and didn’t have to start from scratch each time. Because the prompt was “waves” I tried to make this one look more like waves by adding to the watercolour with paint pens and white ink. The photo below shows the watercolour before I started that, and the photo above shows the end result. I created this page with Wendy’s theme in mind because the prompt of “waves” was perfect for her theme. I found this clay seahorse I had made from a mould a while back and repurposed it and gave it home in this journal.
The words written along the bottom of the page are from a song by Fiona Apple, and if you ever saw the TV show “The Affair” then you would recognise it as the theme from that show.
(Watercolour background, TH cello stickers, Stamperia seahorse mould, metallic paint, paint markers, white gel pen, glue, collage medium, white ink, )
Day 8 – tapestry
For my tapestry I added a little bit of lots of things – fabric, watercolour backgrounds, mixed media panel, blue cat washi tape, blue bokeh washi tape and finally the some of the lyrics from the Carole King song “Tapestry”. I love this fabric (from the stash) as it is a fantastic blue and has all these great icons of NYC and also lots of glitter though that is not showing up in the photo. Everything that looks white, like the windows, the top of the Chrysler building etc, are all glittered.

Day 9- thread
For Day 9 I extended the fabric across from the previous page cutting out pieces so that I had the Statue of Liberty, Chrysler building and the Flat Iron building. The prompt was “thread” and while there were plenty of threads woven into the fabric and fraying off the edges, I thought I would add some additional thread in a different colour. This yellow seemed to really stand out against the blue so I added some along the top and then scrunched up a big wad of it as a base for the woman. She’s a TH paper doll which I coloured in to make her stand out from the background. I also found the perfect TH clipping sticker for her which reads “all her dreams would come true” and perhaps as she sailed past the Statue of Liberty and landed in New York City, they did.
Oh actually this one also works for Wendy’s theme since the Statue of Liberty is On, In or By the Sea
(Fabric from stash, thread, glue, TH paper doll, TH clipping sticker, Stamperia zig zag stitching stamp, Versafine Clair noturne,)
Let me know what you think in the comments below. As always, thanks for reading and Happy journalling!Ingredients

Art Journal Journey – On, In or By the Sea
You have a couple of more amazing pages Elle. I love those waves you made, and the recycled seahorse is cool. Steampunk too-even better! And that background is fabric. Like you I love the blue. And very nice coloring on the TH woman. I thought she was the actual color from a photograph. I think maybe she was out to make her way in the world in NYC. Maybe by ship or maybe by plane, but like FRank Sinatra says,”If you can make it here, you can make anywhere.”. But the Carol King quote is amazing. That is one of my favorite albums since forever. Have a super rest of your weekend, and thanks for joining Wendy’s AJJ challenge. hugs-Erika
Lovely journal pages. Very impressive seahorse
Much?love
Simply wonderful pages. I am in awe of your molded seahorse. And I love the designs from NYC. I agree the Statue of Liberty is by the sea. Thanks for sharing these with AJJ using Wendy’s theme.
Ohhh I love this. You really created a fine piece of art.
