Hi Friends!
How about this – I have managed to do some art journalling this month! Now that Miss Lily is feeling better, we can BOTH spend some time at the art table! Here she is in her favourite spot, supervising of course!
Today’s art . . .
This page was made with Erika’s theme of Home Sweet Home on Art Journal Journey in mind. I have been trying to go through mountains of paper that seems to have accumulated in my house and make use of some of it. The first result is this rather junky little journal. There are all sorts of papers inside, including some wallpaper samples, music paper scans, and some printables. This page has one of these printables as a base but since I have covered it with so much watercolour paint and gesso, and stamping, you can no longer tell what it looked like! Having said that, it is the background paper side, and the other side of that page is the main printable, which is coming up in my next page. I just did some double-sided printing to give me a background instead of white paper.
So I stamped these little houses on the page. I used an acrylic block instead of a stamp platform and I messed up one of the houses. THEN I stamped them on some mixed media paper using the stamp platform, coloured them with watercolours, fussy cut them and THEN decided I didn’t like them! So how to save this page now!Instead of completely covering up the stamped houses, I went over the edges with some white gesso which managed to hide the mess I made with some of the stamping. (The worst of it is on that house on the left, which Alice is now standing in front of, so she is doing a good job of hiding it.) I had been looking through my collection of Carabelle Studio stamps as I knew there was a house stamp in there somewhere, and then I also found a cool alphabet stamp and stamped that all over my background with Sand Dune Versafine ink. I couldn’t remember the name of this stamp and to save me the slow journey upstairs to look at it, I thought it would be quicker to google it (despite not knowing the name!). I eventually found it but it would have been so much quicker to go upstairs and look for it even at my slow pace! Anyway, it’s called Collage Typographique (SA60325) A6 rubber stamp by Carabelle Studio. Obviously they closed down last year and this stamp is from 2017 but it might still be available. It looks like this. The little house stamp set is called Dans My Maison (in my house) (SA60283) and it is still available.
While I was painting the little houses that I ended up not using, I splattered the left over paint on my page. The colours are Green Gold and Opera Pink by Daniel Smith, but other brands also make paints with these colour names. I was still stuck as to what to do with the rest of my page, but then I remembered this Alice paper by Prima, and I cut out a big Alice from one of the papers. Last year I also picked up some 2022 Alice calendars from Stamperia for £2 each because they were from 2022, but I didn’t want them for the calendars, I wanted all the Alice images for my Alice journal (in progress). So the mirror, clock, card and chess board background and the Looking Glass House all came from one of the old calendars. I highlighted some of the elements with a gold pen including the mirror frame and the pocket watch, then I did some asemic writing on the page using the same pen. This photo above hopefully highlights the gold pen elements.

Art Journal Journey – Home Sweet Home
What a fantastic journal page you made of Alice with the splashes as the background!
A magnificent, beautiful work of art.
Hugs Elke ( Lebensglück)
Seems ages since I commented on your posts but what a lovely post to see today. I love all things Alice! This is rather a modern Alice and one I have not seen before but it appeals to me and I love you have used it to build up the page in your new junk journal. Great use of those houses.
How are you? I hope the dreaded crutches went long ago.
Hugs, Neet xx
I forgot about the Looking Glass House, but it’s a great idea for a journal page. I like how you stamped the houses and used a bit of gesso; it makes them almost dreamlike which of course can be said for Alice’s Adventure. And I’m a big fan of splatters,; yours look great. What a fun page. I’m glad Miss Lily is feeling better so you could join the challenge at AJJ. Thank you. Hope ou’re having a super day. hugs-Erika
