Hi Friends!

Hope you are all doing well.  It continues to rain here and the temps are still cooler.  The kitties are not impressed, but this morning the sun was valiantly trying to shine between the clouds and Miss Lily was on my art table on her cushion, trying to soak up those sunbeams!

Today’s art . . .

Messy May Challenge by Get Messy
Messy May is a daily art journal challenge held in May by the Get Messy Art Journal team.  I have been playing along on a very casual basis, just joining in when I feel like it and mostly in the morning when I get up.  I did another page this morning so that makes 8/31 so far.  They do refer to it as “daily-ish” despite having 31 daily prompts and that “more than zero is enough” so I am just managing to follow both of those so far!

Day 7 – Intuition

The prompt for day 7 was intuition and I followed mine instead of following the suggestion for this prompt.  This is what I ended up with, which is just perfect for Neet’s theme of It Must Have Wings.  The page on the right is a printable and I did some stamping on it and added some bits and pieces on top. The page on the left is made from old Mackintosh Rose gift wrap, a few more bits and pieces that were lying around on my table, and I also used this very tiny moth (?) stamp.

Day 11 Colour and Day 19 Sisterhood

The page on the left was an extra from the Mixed Media Expo so I decided to use in this junk journal.  The lesson was by Jane Davenport.  Coincidentally, the page on the right has a Jane Davenport image on it, so I put these two together.  I found a pad of collage paper by Jane but this image was only on the back cover and not inside the book, so I cut up the cover!   The background is a digital printable and the words came from some free stickers (one of which you will see below) by Tamara Laporte that came from an old Life Book freebie.

Day 21 Torn and Day 14 Labyrinth

The prompt for this page asked that you tear your page in half and then collage it back on.  I did that and then I added this old sticker (see above) and after it was on the page I thought it looked like a sun so I used more scraps to make rays.  The page on the right was for the Labyrinth prompt and I used the suggestion to make a path and try to make it link up at both ends. If you look very carefully and follow the green dots, you will see that the path is circular.  [HINT: start at the big green dot on the top left, and go clockwise.] This page used an old gel print that I made using a stencil and until a few days ago, it was all black and white.  I coloured in some of the white bits using pink and green Poscas.

Let me know what you think in the comments below.   As always, thanks for reading and Happy journalling!Ingredients

I love your artistic talent! The colours and details are fantastic! I also love your blog background. Warm greetings from Montreal, Canada. Oh, and I absolutely love cats! I have had 3 in my 68 years, and each one was beautiful and sweet. 🙂

These are all fabulous. You have been busy. I love your clever interpretations of each prompt. Of course, my favorite are the two pages you created with Neet’s theme in mind. Thank you for sharing these beauties with us at AJJ and Neet’s great theme.

Fab journal pages Elle, but the one that I like the best is the one you made for my challenge at AJJ. I could not call this a messy page at all, it is so beautiful, they both are. I love the script on the left hand side and how you have used lace which goes perfectly with the page itself. Those little moths are pretty too although I do not like them in real life. (especially the one that ate three holes in my arty t shirt hanging behind my craft room door). The other page is beautiful with the bird on the apple blossom branch that is singing it’s little heart out for us to enjoy. Love the additional pieces you have added, especially the one with the word ‘Dreaming’ on it.
Thank you one again for entering into my challenge at AJJ.
Hugs, Neet xx
ps Miss Lil looks happy and sleepy in the sunshine.

These are fun pages Elle, and what a great little journal that must be, The colors are so bright and happy. And they feel like May, at least nice days in May. Thanks for joining Neet’s challenge at AJJ again also. Everyone is rocking it this month and it’s been such fun to see what people are making. Have a super rest of your Thursday hugs-Erika
