Hi Friends!

Hope you are all doing well.  After weeks of rain and wind (my poor peonies!) we have a day of sunshine, so everyone here rushes to get their washing hung up outside – including me!  I haven’t been very active online because Miss Lily is poorly again, but I have been keeping up with ICAD while I keep her company in the art room  She has cushions on my table where she likes to sleep in the sun so I have been arting and keeping her company. A short post today because I need to go check on my little girlie cat.

Today’s art . . .

So here’s my June calendar page made PRIDE month in mind, hence the rainbow background, and also linking to Matilde’s theme of People. I am still working in my recycled A4 bullet journal, and painting over any pages that were previously used as such.   This page was painted with Paperartsy Fresco paints in some of their more translucent colours. I then added some stamping, and crayon and doodles on top.  I also added these paper dolls but some of them have cat heads – they look just like their Dad!  This was to match my ICAD theme which I will show you below.

The ICADs or should that be ICATs?

I was a few days late getting started with ICAD because of the reasons above, and also because the index cards I got were 3 x 5 and I wanted 4 x 6.  I ordered them online because I can’t get to a shop still (crutches/no driving) and a size wasn’t specified so then I had to order the right size from amazon, which I’ve been trying to avoid doing, but needs must and all that.  But then I caught up and I went ahead and completed the first three weeks!  So now I’m ahead and it’s a good feeling. Here’s my cover card, it sets the tone for the rest of the cards and has all of the elements that I plan to use for all 61 cards, but I will also be trying to incorporate the weekly themes.  I had thought about doing the daily prompts (I did that one year when I drew cats on all the cards and then added the daily prompt to each) but the week one prompts like “iguana” and “pretzel” just weren’t something I felt like adding to my cards, so I’m doing weekly only and the theme for week one is  No. 1. Drawing, Mark-making, pen, pencil, marker.

Here’s a look at all seven week 1 cards, I’m sure you can see my theme represented in these cards 🙂 but just in case you can’t, I am using watercoloured rainbow backgrounds on my index cards, with collage clusters, paper dolls, cat heads (from food packaging), and words from Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.  This first week also uses the ICAD weekly theme of No. 1. Drawing, Mark-making, pen, pencil, marker, so there are pencil scribbles, and black pen and gold marker doodles. For this set of cards, they all have a wing or two and a teabag behind them.

And for Tea Stands for Tuesday

I am sharing this photo (again) of my neighbour’s cat hanging out on the table while I drink my coffee (decaf). That was probably the last warm, sunny, dry day we had until today!

So sorry to hear about Miss Lilly, I hope there is improvement soon.
Meanwhile I just adore your page for your calendar journal Pride and cat heads – wonderful thinking.
But whilst I love the journal I must say the iCads are my favourites, what a fabulous start with all those cats in those poses that are so different. Fabulous work Elle.
Hugs, Neet xx
ps sorry about the crutches

Dear Elle,
I’m so sorry to hear that Lilly isn’t feeling well – and that you’re still needing crutches. But thankfully, neither seems to have slowed your creativity or artistry one bit!
The rainbow background ? of your calendar page speaks straight to my heart, and your ICADs are truly little works of art. I’m not surprised that most of the people you’ve featured are wearing cat heads – how could it be otherwise in an Empire of the Cat? ?
Such proud personalities parade across your cards! ICAD should really be called ICAT – I would happily sign that petition! ?
Warm greetings from Austria,
Traude

The cats in your art are awesome, I love them! I hope your cat girl will feel better soon, we don’t really like to see our four legged friends suffer.

Poor Miss Lily. I hope she improves soon. I know how worrisome that can be. Your calendar puts mine to shame. I love the idea of PRIDE for your background. It is stunning and perfect for Matilde’s theme at AJJ. Thanks for sharing.

I LOVE your ICADs. They are super stunning. I showed mine on Sunday, but they pale in comparison to yours. Also, mine are 3 X 5, so the size is limited. . I especially love the cover. Just amazing. Wish I was as talented as you. Yours are phenomenal.

It’s good you found a way to spend time outside drinking decaf with your neighborly cat. I always love your Cat Mum mug. Thanks also for joining us for T this Tuesday, dear Elle.
