Hey Steampunk Fans,

Steampunk Challenge Blog is officially launching today! This new monthly challenge is all about steampunk, grunge, and industrial and each month, they will have a mood board that will tell you the type of project and required elements. Occasionally there will also be Anything Goes in which you can make any type of project you want – no limitations! But it still must be in the steam-grunge-industrial style.

So without further ado, let me introduce you to the September challenge mood board:

This month’s challenge is for ATCs so please make at least two (2) ATCs in the steampunk, grunge or industrial style and make sure you include something SILVER in your project.  Just click on the mood board to enter the challenge and don’t forget to check out the Rules page before entering! Challenge runs till the end of the month.

Here’s my DT inspiration project for this challenge.

For this challenge you have to make at least two ATCs at a minimum, I got carried away and made eight but that’s not necessary!  I have been thinking about this challenge for a while and even made a little sketch of my ideas.  I don’t always do that but sometimes I do if I think I am likely to forget something I want to include.

I love a bit of recycling so I am using this old amazon box for my ATC base.  This is partly why I ended up making eight as that’s how many I could cut from this piece of recycled cardboard.

One of my favourite genres is time travel, and I have been thinking a lot of one particular movie that is based on a book – The Time Machine by H.G. Wells.  I love that story and I really love the (old) 1960 version with Rod Taylor and really want to watch it again soon, so in the meantime I decided to make it my inspiration for my ATCs.  I used some book pages from the Time Machine short story and covered my cardboard base with them, then grunged them up a bit to make them look older.

I wanted to use this handmade paper that I have had for at least a decade (!) and recently found in a box in the spare room.

I added some random and not so random stamping all over the background.  The big round stamp reminds me of the back of the Time Machine from the movie!  Also 1895 was the date of publication for the book.

I used chapter titles for my ATC titles and did a bit more work on the background.

The requirement for the challenge was to add SILVER to the ATCs so my silver came from the silver charms, silver wire and silver wax rubbed into the edges of the ATCs.

So that’s my take on the challenge.  Remember you only need to make TWO ATCs but you can make more if you like 🙂  I’ll be along to look at all the entries and I’d love to see what you make!
