Hello everyone, happy Tuesday and Happy First of June! Today I have an update on my crocheted nesting baskets – I finished them!
These were part of a gift I made for a friend’s birthday. When they are empty they can be stacked inside each other as nesting baskets. At this point I had just finished and had yet to weave in the ends in case you were wondering what that was sticking out of the top.
I really like the finished edge on them, which is made by working backwards.
Instead of making a birthday card, I went with a tag instead. I have a packet of MDF tags of various sizes so I chose the biggest one and painted a flower garden on it in the same way as the one I did in my journal and on the big cardboard board recently.
I used more or less the same colours but the green gold looks more yellow on this gessoed MDF than it did in the previous versions.
I was rushing to get it finished in time so there are no more photos of it separately, but here it is with the rest of her gifts. I wrote the Happy Birthday message etc on the back of the tag and tied some purple hemp cord on it so she can hang it up if she wants.
It’s actually been quite warm here today and yesterday, it’s so unusual to not feel cold lol it takes a bit of getting used to. The cats are flaked out all over the house and one in the garden, all looking a bit like this…
This is such a cold house even when the heating is on it’s never warm and definitely not 24C haha so they are a bit confused but also loving it! I’ve been drinking water all day and I set my cup down on my newly cleared desk, turned my back for a second and…
Word got out and a queue formed!
I recently received this tea from a friend in Holland so I was going to choose one and then go boil the kettle, make the tea, let it cool and drink it cold, but now I will have to find another cup!
And finally, I’ve been eagerly awaiting ICAD, got an assortment of index cards at the ready and then suddenly it’s June 1st and I am not ready lol but I am joining in, just give me a minute to change gears and get used to it being June and then I will be…
I will be sharing them here on the blog probably weekly like I did with the 100 Day Project and at least some of them on IG.
How’s your weather today, is the sun shining? Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading!

Your baskets really do look fabulous! I love the tag too. Love the kitty drinks queue! A very belated Happy T Day, Chrisx
Ohh there is so much lovely art here. I also love the T-cup the kitty is playing with.
Those baskets turned out great. They are beautiful and in one of your favorite colors, too. And that tag is beautiful, too.
I’m thrilled you are also joining ICADs this year. This is my 9th and they will only be on my blog, since I’m only on Blogger. I’ll watch for yours.
I laughed at the cup and your adorable kitty. That’s why I choose mugs with lids. My cats both love my coffee that I turn white with half and half, and they would lap it up in a heartbeat if there was no lid (and straw) on my mugs. Thanks so much for sharing your gift baskets and tag, along with your cup of water, tea, and errant cats with us for T this Tuesday, dear Elle.
Lovely gift and card you made for your friend. Seeing your black cats brought back so many happy memories of my beloved Ink. He loved to climb up on my drafting table and drink out of the dirty paint and ink water vessels. Love that picture of the cute little pink tongue. Happy T Day
Funny to see your cats take over your own mug and drink from it.
