Hello friends, and Happy New Year!
I wish you all the best of health and since today is also the World Day of Peace, I also hope that you have a peaceful year. Since it is the very first day of a brand new year as well as a brand new month, I wanted to share my DT inspiration project for the January Main challenge at More Than Words. To start off the New Year, the challenge this month is as follows:
This is a fun challenge as we get to reflect on the past year and also do some fun doodling on our page.
I wanted a watercolour background this time, so I spent some time creating that and reflecting on the year that has just been. Before starting with my painting I drew on some trees and ground decorations using a white crayon.
I used purples and blues for the sky and some different greens for the ground – you can see the crayon starting to show through now that the colour has been added.
After a few more layers of watecolour…I painted in the trees before drying off the whole page.
I wrote the quote with a white paint pen. It’s something to meditate on for sure.
I added some white pen doodles to the grassy area at the bottom of the page and went over some of the crayon lines to make them stand out more.
I also added some stars to the sky with a white paint pen.
Here’s a closer look at the trees and doodling…
And then all that was left to do was add the date stamp and call it finished!
Hope you feel inspired to join in the challenge this month. Here’s to a creative year ahead!
Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading!Ingredients

Love how you built up the watercolour to present us with a vibrant landscape Elle. The white pen worked a treat to highlight and draw our eye to your wise words of reflection. I love it. Creative wishes Tracey x
