Hi Friends!

Another short and sweet post today. You may have seen this photo last week…

Miss P is the only one of the cats that goes outside, and unfortunately she got bitten badly by another cat, and ended up at the vets having a huge abscess drained.  She is now on antibiotics, painkillers, and wearing the cone.  She is also confined to the house until she is fully healed.  Personally I would like to keep her inside full time but that might not be possible because she is a former feral farm cat who WANTS to be OUT and she hates all other cats, including the other two that live in this house (they are always kept separate when she is inside).  So at the moment the downstairs is split in two, with her in one half and Miss Lily and Mr G in the other half.  She had a plastic cone from the vet but it was making her crazy and she kept walking backwards and fell off the cat tree a couple of times, so I ordered this soft one from amazon which is much better and at least she can sleep comfortably and has stopped falling off of things and walking backwards.

Today’s art . . .

So consequently because of the above I have not had much free time to work on all the December challenges I planned to join and here I am sharing my December calendar on the 17th of December!  This is also a page for Sharon’s theme of Snow on Art Journal Journey

This is the usual recycled A4 bullet journal I have repurposed as my calendar journal.  This page I painted with a couple of Paperartsy chalk paints and at first I used a green to match the cat food packaging I was going to use, but I didn’t like it so I painted over it with a dark blue which gave me this lovely teal colour.

Then I used an old Tim Holtz snow stencil with white texture paste all over the page.  On top of that I did some stencilling with some gold glitter paste.  This is a really old Nuvo paste and some of it didn’t come out so clearly and it had gone a bit gooey.  There are two HO HO HO’s, a DEC 25 and then the TREE done in this gold glitter.

I used a gold Posca to draw my calendar squares and write my numbers.  Then all the other decoration comes from the recycling bin!  I die cut the DECEMBER and 2024 letters and numbers using Sizzix/Tim Holtz dies and some Bonne Maman yogurt packaging which has their distinctive red and white gingham pattern.  Then I cut out WINTER WONDERLAND from a xmas scratchcard, and the rest all came from some of these Christmas cat treats. The cats, the baubles, the presents were all fussy cut from some of these packets and the WE WISH YOU A MEOWY CHRISTMAS comes from the back of the packet.

This is a yogurty paste and this flavour is their favourite but it only comes out at Christmas so I try to stock up.  I started buying these yogurty treats as recommended by the vet, when Mr G needed lots of medication for his IBD and this stuff is great for hiding or disguising medications!  And of course, also included in this photo are some drinks for T Day!  On the left is my blender cup for my stick blender (immersion) which I use when I need a really BIG cup of tea – you can see the really long teaspoon sticking out, and on the right is my beloved Cat Mum mug which I use mostly for my coffee (decaf) but also at the back is a plastic jug which I usually use for making soy milk but I also use it with my coffee machine – instead of making one cup at a time, I use this instead of a cup and just fill it up till I have enough for the day.

Let me know what you think in the comments below.   As always, thanks for reading and Happy journalling!Ingredients

Oh my goodness, poor Miss P! I’m sorry to see that she is still in the collar. I hope she gets out of it soon and is completely healed. Your December calendar pages are absolutely beautiful – – the cat photo from the packaging is so clever and adorable!! And I have not heard of those kitty treats, but they sound delicious for cats. Thanks so much for joining in on the fun again at AJJ! Hugs, Sharon

Oh poor Miss P! But that collar is a good idea. I’ll bear that in mind should I need one in the future..
I hope she gets better sion.
Lovely December calendar pages.
I’ve not heard of Licky licks treats, but I’m a beginner when it comes to cats.
Happy T-Day,
Lisca

Poor Miss P. The soft collar looks a lot more comfortable than the cone of shame. I hope she’s feeling better soon. That treat sounds yummy. I like the flavor combinations so wouldn’t mind taking a little taste. Happy T Day

Poor Miss P! As I already said on your IG post, I also think she has something royal about her with that soft cone. Remember those big collars that Queen Elizabeth I used to wear? That’s what it reminds me of.
I like your calendar journal as well – I’m not even half as creative as you are. And I always love your Cat Mum mug.
In case I’m not here next week, I wish you peaceful holidays. Happy T day – Carola

Oh, this collar is a great replacement for the traditional cones, our cats (who unfortunately have since passed away) would have coped better with it. I can understand that there are cats that cannot be kept indoors – that was the case with the two cats we had last. And Maxwell also had enemies, he was bitten and once a hostile tomcat chased him onto the road and in front of a car. He only survived by luck and with the help of two nice ladies who rescued him and took him to the animal hospital. Now we have a Maine Coon guest cat who visits us (almost) every day. She walks through the neighborhood and visits everyone who is friendly to her – she too could never be kept indoors again.
Your December calendar is gorgeous and the cat picture fits perfectly!
Happy T-Day!
All the best from Austria and a wonderful Advent season, Traude

That is a super fun calendar page Elle. I love the kitties and those gold circle trees. The kitty you put laying down on the bottom right, under the tree, looks like he’s gotten lots of snacks and catnip for Christmas and is now settling in for a well deserved and satisfying afternoon nap. 🙂 Love it. I hope Miss. P heals soon. And I hope you’re having a lovely T day and have a great rest of your week too. hugs-Erika
