Hi everyone, happy August! Today I am sharing an art journal page for the new August challenge over on Art Journal Journey which this month is Type chosen by this month’s host, Neet. I love this challenge and I started creating quite a few pages which I will share throughout the month. Here is the first page…
I used a lot of examples of different kinds of type and collaged them all to the page. Then I added these neon pink gel printed words which were leftover from some March projects – MEOW, CAT, PURRS, and then used one of my cardboard cat stencils to add the pink cats to each side. I coloured them in with Neocolors and outlined them with a black Stabilo and drew on some little faces. Perhaps they can be called Book Antiqua and Franklin Gothic like the typeface samples I used on the background? To finish off the page I added YOU’RE MY TYPE using some stamps and Versafine Clair ink in Chianti.

The collage of type is a great background to begin a page for this TYPE theme. I love that bright intense pink. Since cats can sometimes refuse to get along together, I like that these two are just each other’s type. Your stamped type words in the pink are a purrfect detail for your page.

I think it is wonderful. I loved all the different types of type you used in the first picture. I could spend ages looking at the different pieces. Then you went and put the words on in bright neon pink – wow, that really brought the page to life.
Being a cat lover how could I fail to fall in love with it and what a terrific sentiment you made – ‘Meow cat purrs you’re my type’. Love it!
