Hi everyone! Today I am sharing an art journal page for the August challenge over on Art Journal Journey which this month is Type chosen by this month’s lovely host, Neet. I don’t have a step by step for this one but I will explain what happened. I started off using some items for collage and then colouring in the rest of the page, but then I wondered what else to do with the page until I remembered the negative diecuts I had used on the Your Story Matters page. I had taken a photo of some of the possible collage items and this photo shows the Doves Farm flour bag that I ended up using on this page and also the negative diecut before I covered it in turquoise and avocado spray inks…
So here is my pre-collage photo, using the Doves Farm flour bag and some packaging from an old Dylusions journal. I filled in the gaps with some paper doilies and turquoise ink and then I was a bit stuck wondering where to go next.
Then I spied the diecut that was saturated with avocado ink and turquoise ink and since the colours already fit with this page (it had the same turquoise around the collage) I just chopped them up and glued them on top of my collage, so it ended up looking like this.
To finish off the page, I outlined the letters and numbers with a black pen for more definition and then I added this quote from Goethe: Magic is believing in yourself. If you can do that, you can make anything happen.
Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading!

You are so clever to save those negative die cuts. I am a huge fan of recycling, and this is an absolutely perfect journal page. It is quite worthy of Neet’s theme at Art Journal Journey, too, dear.
Such a cool page! I love it!
Cool page Elle. I am loving your layering here. You kept a few details from your labels but definitely they aren’t labels any more. What a good way to to recycle, and create a fantastic page. Thanks for joining us again for Neet’s challenge at AJJ. Happy new week. Hugs-Erika
Elle, you are a girl after my own heart – I too save the binding paper from the Dylusion Journals. I love the letters she uses and the colours. They come in so useful for journaling.
Not used a flour bag though – what a glorious colour it is. Works so well with the negative diecut (love it) that you used, coloured with Turquoise and Avocado. I love that negative diecut and you have so patiently gone around the cut outs with a black pen, it certainly enhances them.
A lovely sentence too – magic is believing … make anything happen.
Thanks for another glorious entry for my theme at AJJ.
Hugs, Neet xx
Yet another fabulous page Elle, great ideas there. Have a great Sunday, and thanks for joining us at AJJ for Neet’s challenge! Valerie
