Hi everyone and happy Monday! I hope everyone has a great week. Today I am sharing another art journal page for the August challenge over on Art Journal Journey which this month is Type chosen by this month’s lovely host, Neet. For Type I used two types of people, one light and one dark, facing each other, with backgrounds containing many different typefaces and old fashioned devices (I’m pretty sure one of them is a printing press of some kind). This page is also intended for the current Sandee and Amelie’s Steampunk Challenge which is their final challenge as they will be closing their doors after nine years. So many blogs are closing down, it makes me sad. : (
The background is made of different papers, light and dark, and some tissue paper with gears and cogs on it. I painted the people with Lumiere metallic paints, a mixture of gold and bronze on the left and black and pewter on the right and both edged with gold to highlight. I used some paper cord painted gold and tucked it under her head on the left and used black waxed linen thread and did the same thing on the right side. I did a bit of hidden journaling in black, writing in place and over what I had already written, splattered the rest of the paint around and then added these Tim Holtz word stickers (another kind of type) to each of them…
Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading and have a great week!

Oh My! This is beautiful! What a a great selection of different ‘Types’ for Neet’s theme at AJJ, Chrisx
I was drawn in by the beautiful vintage die cut lady, then admired the many layers and the steampunk inspired journal entry. Thanks for sharing this with us at Art Journal Journey using Neet’s theme.
I wish more people realized the truth to your words here! The images are wonderful and I love the background, Elle. Fab pages – I love steampunk.
A fantastic page, the bold type layers look super as a background for those beautiful silhouette heads. Thank you for linking up to Neets theme at AJJ.

Nice steampunk page Elle. I like the metallic feel on the paper you chose in the top and bottom corners, and that is one cool die cut lady. This is a super page for Neet’s TYPE challenge. Glad you are joining us; thank you. Hope you have a great start to the new week. Hugs-Erika
Fabulous page, Elle. Sad indeed that so many blogs are closing down. Thanks for joining us again at AJJ, much appreciated, Valerie
Lots of ‘type’ here Elle. I love those two ladies and what a great idea to do one light and one dark. I do like the addition of the gold cord and the black thread you used on each one too.
So many types of type here, and again the contrast of the light and dark. This works so well with the steampunk theme and those cogs.
Thanks for another delightful entry for my theme at AJJ.
Hugs, Neet xx
