Hi everyone! Today I have another art journal page for the August challenge over on Art Journal Journey which this month is Type chosen by this month’s host, the lovely Neet. I’m a little late posting this today as I am still monitoring my cat who wasn’t very well yesterday and still isn’t completely herself. Depending on how she is today, she might have to go back to the vet tomorrow : / So although this was finished, I didn’t get a chance to take any photos of it till today.
For this page I was inspired by the iconic quote from Pride and Prejudice, and one that I know by heart so it was easy to type it out on my old typewriter…
It’s pretty old and sometimes the keys stick, so there are a few typos but they are easy to fix with some Tippex or left alone for authenticity lol. Jane Austen wrote everything in long hand since she was writing a few decades before typewriters were invented.
The background of the page is made with embossed watercolour paper, using a damask pattern embossing folder and some crayons. I used a silhouette stamp of a lady and a gentleman who could have stepped out of a Jane Austen book perhaps. Then I die cut some typewriters, the big one is the newer Tim Holtz typewriter die, and the little one is an older Movers and Shapers die. I added my typewritten quote to the left hand page…
and I pieced together another tester version to the typewriter on the right hand page.
I painted my typewriters in teal using Neocolor IIs because that’s the colour of my own typewriter!
Let me know what you think in the comments and I wonder if anyone else has a typewriter? As always, thanks for reading!Ingredients
watercolour paper, my usual journal, typewriter dies, embossing folder, Jane Davenport crayons, silver acrylic paint, Tim Holtz stamp, typed quote, stabilo all, gel medium,

It’s a long time since I read Jane Austen books , maybe time for a re- read, especially as we visit Lyme Park regularly. You really captured the era and essence of her writing here, and it fits in so well with Neet’s theme at AJJ. Hugs, Chrisx
Its a fantastic page journal page, thank you for linking with Neet’s theme at AJJ and for the inspiration. Your old typewriter looks awesome and you picked out a lovely quote to use.

Lovely art journal page! Love old typewriters and how you build the page around them. Have a great weekend!
Sadly, I don’t have those typewriter dies, but I sure love yours. I also really like your green typewriter. I would LOVE to buy one myself. This is such a special page you created for us at Art Journal Journey using Neet’s theme. I love how you used a real typed quote, too. This is amazing.
Well, for a start I think i am a little green eyed at your typewriter. It’s just what I want – something which will have the letter a and e filled in at times because of the new ribbon or whatever. I used to love picking the bits out with a pin before I ran a chewing gum type of stuff over the keys.
Anyway, to your page(s) – lovely again although very different to last time. What a lovely background that folder has made, it looks perfect with the colouring on it like that – old wallpaper. The two silhouette figures look so elegant on there and I love the various typewriters. The two quotes are brilliant – very fitting for the pages.
Thank you for such a lovely entry for my theme at AJJ.
Hugs, Neet xx
So many of you are making such fun pages with the old TH typewriter die. My page is tomorrow, but it doesn’t compare to yours. I love it Elle. I like how you painted the typewriter to match yours. And I love the regency feel of your page- of course no typewriters then. This is a fun page for Neet’s challenge, and thanks for joining us again. hugs-Erika
I love that quote, I know it off by heart too Elle! Your page looks fabulous. I have a typewriter, but it’s not such a gorgeous colour as yours. Mine is black and grey!
