Hello friends,
Not really in the best frame of mind at the moment and I noticed that the only thing I can do to switch off is something visual, either some kind of moving picture (Netflix) or do some art. Music doesn’t cut it, nor does listening to an audiobook or reading a book myself. None of those things seem to be able to block my thoughts the way something visual does, so I worked on another Halloween journal page today to stop me worrying about Mr G. Here is how it started out with some fabric pieces I stuck down on my page at the weekend and left to dry.
And here’s how it ended up today…
Looking at the before and after photos together reminds me of one of those spot the difference games where you have to find 10 things that are in photo A but not in photo B, if you know what I mean lol. I know the background looks a bit pink (more pink? again?) but it’s actually a Neocolor called Purple Violet! I covered all the white bits of my page with it and when it was dry decorated it with a black paint pen and wrote a very small part of The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe in the bottom left corner of the page.
It is of course, more fabric from my stash but this one is really very nice and probably quite rare now as it’s from an older collection. Here’s a photo of the full pattern on the fabric so you can see all the interesting images included on it…
I have another page currently drying that has used a little bit more of it but I don’t want to use it all since I don’t have much left. Here are some closer looks…
I went over some details with a white pen to make them stand out more – the raven’s eye, some of the text on the bottles, the bat etc – and then added more details with a gold pen on some of the other areas, like the beetles above and the foliage below.
I used a black pen to write my quote from the poem and a black paint pen to make the stripey design around the page.
I added a few Tim Holtz Halloween ephemera pieces on the bottles.
And that was more or less it finished. Now I need to cook dinner and check on Mr G.
Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading!Ingredients

I love this. And i love how you break it all down, how you create it. And i doubly love that you use fabric. <3 I hope Mr G. is much better by now.
Love your Poe page! It has so many delightful details to match Poe’s story!
I am a huge Poe fan and this is fantastic. I hope you start finding more to smile about in the future… but a ‘dreary’ Poe scene really made me smile today. You gave Me joy, so thank you for that…
That is awesome! Loving your creativity.
Wow, what a creative way to distract your thoughts from days that are not the best! I love all you created! So much to look at. I do like those pictures where we have to find the difference, they can be fun and frustrating too.
I just love the pages you create with fabric!!
