Hi Friends!
Happy new week! It has turned very cold here and it was -3C (26F?) here overnight! A bit of a shock this morning, but the air is so fresh and the sun was shining so it was a lovely crisp, frosty morning. I put the winter curtains back on the doorways today, I had taken them down over the summer, but now they are needed to stop draughts. Some doors need to stay open so the kitties can get around or get to their litter boxes, but I can do without the cold draughts coming in from those areas. I will be lighting the stove shortly as that is our only form of heating and we can’t be without it. Once it starts to warm up, the kitties appear as if by magic and plonk themselves in front of it. I got quite a few pages finished over the weekend so I am actually ahead rather than behind, which is a nice feeling. This journal is getting very chunky! I’m done for today so it will be dinner, netflix and crochet in front of the stove for the rest of the evening.
Today’s art . . .
Really, she has no respect for the art LOL. That’s my journal she’s standing on, voicing her opinion, she’s quite the art critic.
Today I am sharing three more pages (days 16-18) from this month’s journal created for #NoSewNovember Instagram challenge hosted by @megjournals , one page was created with Wendy’s theme of On, In or By the Sea over on Art Journal Journey in mind – it’s the one with the pirate ship of course!
Day 16 – circle
For the circle prompt I have a moon. This is an old card I found in a box, and I have been trying to repurpose or reuse some of my old makes that are mouldering away in boxes. The only thing I changed was adding this moon mould on top of the white circle moon. I actually did this Sunday morning using some Stamperia cream paste which I have used before but for some reason it was taking forever to dry and harden. I ended up leaving it overnight in front of the woodburner, and still it was not dry this morning. So I decided to put it in the oven as the mould can take up to 500F heat. No worries, I thought – hahaha how wrong I was. Ten minutes later I checked, and I don’t know what this cream paste is made of, but heating it was not a good idea and it went rubbery and shrivelled up! Normally it turns into a kind of clay but it was completely unusable and I had to resort to making another one with hot glue and then painting it white with gesso.
(old card recycled, cello stickers, moon mould, hot glue, gesso,)
Day 17 transition
It had to be a butterfly for the Transition prompt. This is another recycled project, this was originally a 12 inch page I made in 2019. This time I completely dismantled the page and only used some of the elements – the flowers and the butterfly – then I used part of another project for the kraft background with the hearts and a clean up paper towel that was on my table for the other side of the page.
(kraft card, paper flowers (diecut and Prima) paper butterfly, gold painted key mould, clean up paper towel, Finnabair quote sticker, glue, )
Day 18 – fuse
This one has a steampunk vibe and when I saw the prompt was FUSE honestly that’s all I could think of (apart from fusing layers of fabric together) so it had to be steampunk as I was NOT doing the fabric thing! I had this paper pad from Stamperia, so I fussy cut the ship and the pirate lady and placed them on another watercoloured background.
I also had this ATC coin with a ship’s wheel on it (also in a box!) and I wanted to use that with the ship, so I took that, and the fussy cut telescope and a few bits and pieces and made a dangle.
When I say “a few bits and pieces” they were all parts of a switch that came out of the old boiler. I dismantled it yesterday looking for a fuse (I didn’t want to use a working fuse in case I needed one in the future!) and decided to use some of the other bits. There is another part of it stuck to the bottom left of the page and on the dangle, as well as this cute little bit of metal that to me looked like a kitty, so I stuck it on the chest behind the pirate lady. Those marks that look like eyes were already there, I didn’t even have to add them! Could be a kitty, could be an owl – if she’s a pirate, maybe it’s a parrot lol. No, definitely a kitty! This is a page created for Wendy’s theme of On, In or By the Sea over on Art Journal Journey.
(watercolour background, Stamperia paper, Finnabair quote stickers, old boiler parts, ATC coin, wire, rubber, eyelets, Distress ink, collage medium, glue, TH cello stickers, )
T Stands For . . .
I am also joining the Tea ladies with this photo of my fridge I showed a couple of weeks ago but the fridge does still have the same things in it. What I didn’t notice the first time is that there is an extra drink in the photo – behind the bottle on the left is a container of grapefruit juice – so there are five drinks in the photo, not four!
And of course a kitty update! Eight years it has taken for them to finally like fish! I’ve never seen two cats so anti-fish in my life before lol. They have resisted, tried to bury it and ran away from dishes of fish, but now that they are eight, they’ve decided that fish is pretty good!
And here’s Miss Lily on top of the bookcase last night – still her favourite spot when the woodburner is on as the fan pushes the warm air right to that particular spot. Yes she is that close to the ceiling!
Let me know what you think in the comments below. As always, thanks for reading and Happy journalling!Ingredients

Art Journal Journey – On, In or By the Sea
T Stands for – five drinks in the fridge
Beautiful journal pages Elle. I love the steampunk one particularly.
I also have a stove as my only source of heating and it has been on last night. Only because I had friends over. Normally I will sit one the sofa with a blanket over me.
Five drinks in one photo. That must be a record. I love cold brewed coffee by the way.
Happy (belated) T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca
The journal is spectacular. My favorite is the blue page with the moon. A halo around the moon means snow. Hope not! Your evening sounds like the ending to a perfect day. I like Miss Lily choosing the warmest place in the house. Happy T Day
Using an actual fuse to express a steampunk theme is neat. I like the total composition.

Great journal page Elle.. I do love your pirate page. That’s a super idea for Wendy’s challenge. Your other 2 pages are really lovely too.. I like the night sky and the summery butterfly page. We’ve had some of the cold nights too in the last few weeks. Brrrr. Winter is on it’s way I guess. I know even the dogs like to hang out in front of the woodstove. Sometimes they are even hot to the touch. Have a super T day and week ahead, and thanks for joining Wendy’s challenge too. hugs-Erika
Great page for my theme, and what a glamorous lady to have on board., I bet the sailors didn’t object. Thank you for sharing with us on AJJ.
