Hello friends,

Happy new week!  Have some issues with the heating system, nearly got poisoned (again) and it’s still not fixed but hey, let’s not think about that and look at some art journal stuff instead.  Works for me, la la la.

today’s journal page . . .

Today’s spread is inspired by a couple of things including Raspberry Blue Sky’s 52 Weeks journal prompt – Vintage, and another prompt I discovered thanks to Alison @Craftytrog and it just hit the right buttons, and I decided to play along to forget about the current predicament.  The prompts for that #take5art challenge were – crayons, book pages, muted colours, plants, and something transparent.  I am also sharing it with Art Journal Journey’s October prompt as this reminds me of the faded colours we have at the end of summer moving into Autumn, and with Art Daily Cafe’s Read Between the Lines October challenge.

This was an unused background that I started for the Type challenge on AJJ back in August and never used.  It was Distress Oxide spray through my handmade stencil but after I sprayed it, I didn’t like it because the colours were very muted – well muted colours were exactly what was needed so I decided to make use of it!

I used Neocolours to colour in the rest of the page around the edges.

I used some vintage book pages on both pages, and some botanical washi stickers.

I like to underline parts of the text that might be relevant to the story of the page.  There are also splashes of various things on the background, from the Neocolours, the white gesso, the black stabilo etc.

More splatters, more stabilo…

My transparent thing is a brown window-faced envelope…

I made a tag to sit inside it…

I used Pitt pens to add some detail and some grass for the rabbit to stand on…

and extended the length of the flower stems…

Here’s the page without the tag…

With the tag…

And with the tag in position in the pocket…

Let me know what you think in the comments.   As always, thanks for reading!Ingredients

Art Daily CafeOctober Read Between the Lines – I used lots of brown and then black stabilo and black text on the book pages.  I underlined some of the lines to tell a different story, and pulled out some of them to use on my tag.
