Hello friends,
TGI Friday as it’s been quite a week and I need some downtime. Here’s to the weekend! I hope you all get time off to rest and recharge!
today’s journal page . . .
Today’s spread is inspired by what I think of as Autumnal colours and also what I found in the recycling bin!
I found all these random leftover bits and pieces, mostly gel prints but also some die cut leaves and other shapes when I was tidying up the studio before installing the new water fountain for the cat, and then in the recycling bin, I found this bit of cardboard packaging from Tesco bakery – the long brown strip with what I think is supposed to be ears of wheat on it in cream. They use this image on all of their fresh bakery products.
I feel like I’m missing a photo showing all the gel prints stuck down but before I added anything on top but perhaps I just forgot to take one. I collaged all the gel prints on the page first and then added everything else on top after the page was dry. The diecut leaves and the cardfront grid on the left side were die cut and coloured with Distress Oxides I think, at least two years ago, and I thought about painting them, but the colours seemed right for this page, so I left them as is. I found one very tiny tag that has books stamped on it and painted a pinkish red, so I stuck it in the slot where the barcode is on the bakery cardboard, and wrote Fall on it.
Even this purple diecut was a leftover from something or other. I was going to use the white side but then I really liked how the purple looked against all that orange. I wrote Autumn on it with a black waterproof pen. I can always write something on the white reverse later on. I can also add more to this grid if I find something that I want to stick on this page.
There are autumn leaves gel printed on this leftover gel print, you can just make out the red maple leave in the photo above, and there is a green one under the grid and a few orange ones dotted about the page.
I was thinking about the weather and what it means now that it is well and truly Autumn, so I wrote down a few things about what was happening in the garden. It has been very windy and I found about half of our apples on the ground the other day, being chomped on by whatever is living in the garden.
There were still plenty for us though and I think the blackbirds have arrived to help with the eating – they do appreciate an apple! My mum always said they preferred golden delicious but I think they are happy with any kind of apple. They have also been having a go at the giant rose hips on my Rosa Rugosa and some other shrub I have that is suddenly covered in little orange berries. I will have to work out exactly what it is one day lol.
Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading!Ingredients

I love the purple and orange together. I think they are not just autumn colors, but Halloween colors as well. I really like these autumn leaves and awesome layers upon layers of beauty, too.
Thanks for also sharing this with us at Art Journal Journey using Tracey’s theme.
A beautiful Autumn page Elle!
Nice use of recycled bits Elle. I love those die cut leaves. Your bowl of apples looks yummy also. I hope you can pick as many as you want before nature gets to them. They are hungry too for a treat I think. Thanks for sharing this with us at AJJ for Tracey’s theme. And happy weekend. Hugs-Erika
