Hello friends,

Happy new week!  I hope your weekend was a good one and that you didn’t not have any visitors like the ones below 🙂

today’s journal page . . .

Today’s spread is inspired by this very small piece of fabric which is all I have left of this design, so I thought I would preserve it in my journal.  It’s a Halloween fabric from a few years ago and if I remember rightly, these children and the cat are part of a larger family, all a bit spooky.

It got me thinking that these children probably have an extended family of spooky relatives, and perhaps some Evil Aunts lurking in the family tree. Perhaps these Evil Aunts were due to visit for Halloween and that is why the children have those looks on their faces!

So I conjured up a little story about the day when the Aunts came to stay…

The background of this page is painted with Neocolour IIs to blend in with the colour of the fabric.  I used a mix of Moss Green and Olive Green to colour all the white space around the fabric, and then I drew on some shadowy figures in the background, perhaps arriving by broomstick, or flying in like Mary Poppins with an umbrella.

At the bottom, I drew the faces of the two Evil Aunts, trying to mimic the style of the children on the fabric, and in case there was any doubt, wrote EVIL AUNTS across the bottom of the page!

Maybe I need to continue this story…  TO BE CONTINUED!

Let me know what you think in the comments.   As always, thanks for reading!Ingredients

Love, love, love! What a great leftover piece of fabric. Great way to memorialize it too. Your background is perfect, the aunts are fun, and I love the story. So well done!

What a clever way to use the last of that fabric. I enjoyed the story of the evil aunts. This is really clever the way you flawlessly used that fabric to get your message across. I’d love to hear more about the evil aunts. Thanks for sharing another great entry with us at Art Journal Journey using Tracey’s theme.
