Hello friends, and Happy Wednesday!
Hope you are having a creative week. We still have freezing temperatures here and yes the heating is still broken but possibly might be fixed tomorrow, so cross all your fingers and toes for that to happen! Mine might be snapping off soon if it gets any colder haha.
today’s art . . .
Today’s art is this art journal page that I made using all the stamps that I made for Day’s 1-7 of the Carve December Challenge.
It was really an accident that I turned this into a journal page as I was just testing out the stamps and seeing what they looked like and before I knew it, there was a background ready and waiting.
I used different colours of Versafine Clair ink on my stamps, a different colour for each different stamp. At the very end of the process, I also used the little dots stamp with some white pigment ink, so you can see it in the photo above in white and also in lime green.
Here’s a photo showing all eight of the stamps I’ve made so far, including the pair of cat stamps. Some are made from craft foam and others from lino.
The quote is one by Helen Keller and reads:
Often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us.
This quote and my doorways are of course for the “doors” theme over on Art Journal Journey, where Valerie is hosting this month.
As yes, those doorways, where did they come from? Well let me tell you. I had this idea to draw a doorway in the centre, and after I did it, I regretted it but there was no going back, so what to do? Why not make more doorways, so I drew two more arches and still wasn’t happy with the page! I’ve ruined it! Now what? OK, so I got out some acrylic ink and painted in around the doorways/arches and then suddenly it looked a whole lot better as that green ink really pulled things together and it started to look like it was planned all along haha. After that I added more stamping with the little circles stamp I made and some white pigment ink – the white made it look like snow was falling and the cats were looking up at it. This is the second time I’ve had to rescue a page in the last week! This cold weather must be getting to me lol.
Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading!Ingredients

Fun page! Love the cats! Thank you for joining us at The Funkie Junkie Boutique!
I am sorry for visiting so late. Still hard to sit for very long and still try to make art, too. I have seen most of your stamps, but I think I missed one. I sure love how you saved this page/spread. It is wonderful. You did a great job and it’s perfect for Valerie’s theme at Art Journal Journey, too.
Your hand carved stamps are just fabulous and look at these amazing pages! Cool yule, indeed! I feel like I’ve just stepped back into the 70’s! The cat image reminds me of my first and only 3 dimensional woodcarving I did in my last year of high school, with it’s slender profile. I nearly cut my finger off, so no more carving for me after that! I love YOUR happy accident!
What a beautiful, colorful page, I love all of the stamps you made, so fun and cute! Thanks so much for joining us at Try it on Tuesday!

A fabulous ‘accident’ page! I love your carved stamps(had my carving stuff out on my desk but still not done anything for ages). Those arches with the cats looking up at the snow look fantastic! Thanks much for sharing at both Art Journal Journey and TIOT. Happy weekend, Chrisx
And thanks Elle for sharing with us at Try It On Tuesday.
Those are great stamps Elle. And those cats remind of you, since you have stamps and have drawn those kitty views before. I like your page and how you turned the play page into a great journal page. Thanks for sharing with us at AJJ. Hope the heat gets fixed. Happy end of the week. Hugs-Erika
