Hello everyone,

Happy Monday!  We have a day off today as part of a long weekend so it was a nice start to the week.  I got to do some doodling today, I was thinking about National Doodle Day and the actual day of celebration seems to change according to various websites, so it could be today or it might have been the 17th or just about any other day in September lol.   This is another art journal page inspired by the VINTAGE theme over on Art Journal Journey where this month’s lovely host is Wendy K.

I started by lettering this quote and doing a bit of doodling.  Doodling is defined as absent minded drawing or drawing without an intention.  My doodles always seem to veer towards leaves even if I am not thinking about drawing leaves, leaves seem to appear!

Here’s how it looked at the end of my pencil doodling…

Then I went over it all in a waterproof black pen and embellished some of the leaves and spirals a bit more…

I used some Daniel Smith and Schmincke watercolours to each of the sections.

Once the watercolours were dry, I went round the edges of the page with Vintage Photo archival ink.

I really like these muted, vintage-y colours together…

Hope you enjoyed this one!  Let me know what you think in the comments.   As always, thanks for reading!Ingredients

The doodle page came out wonderful. I love the quote!!
I was thinking about what I gravitate towards when I doodle, and realized
it is almost always flowers and leaves. I wonder why that is.

Your writing is really fantastic, I struggle with writing quotes, so just jab at it! Thanks for sharing your process too – I would have done W/Colour first, then jab jab, and it’s nice to understand someone else’s process!
