Hello friends, and Happy Sunday!

After yesterday’s cold weather, we woke up to SNOW this morning!  That was a shock.  Not much snow, just a light dusting but I didn’t expect it, actually thought it was too cold for snow, but apparently not. Our temps today range from a high of 5C to -3C.  Minus 3!!!!  So today I am inspired by the weather somewhat…

today’s art . . .

Today I am sharing an art journal page that I made this morning using some fabric from my stash.  The fabric is blue with white reindeer scattered all over it with some white snow drops in between.   This is my offering for Day 28 of Art Every Day Month.  It also works for one or two challenges so I will add all the links and the bottom of the post.

I pasted the fabric on to some watercolour paper in my journal using matte medium, and left it to dry by itself – mostly, though I was a bit impatient and blasted it with a hairdryer once or twice 🙂

After that all I planned to do with it was add some kind of quote but when it came time to do that I thought it looks like it needed something else, so I firstly splattered it with gold acrylic ink, but wasn’t satisfied with that so I splattered it with black acrylic ink, but I wasn’t happy about that either so I decided to stamp some snowflakes on it with teal ink!

I found this owl left over from making my notecards.  He was the tester to see how it would look with the painted frame around the stamp before I committed to adding it to my cards. I wondered if he would like to hang out on this page instead of in a box of leftover bits.  He said yes!  I also added this black ribbon from my stash.

Here’s another tester piece!  There is a really lovely stamped image on the other side of this painted frame but I wanted the frame so it had to be sacrificed.  I love this poem by Mary Oliver called Snowy Night, and snow was in my mind after this morning, so I wrote out a few lines to fit inside the frame.
I also scrawled some of it in my shockingly messy handwriting on the top right side of the page, have to say though that the pen worked really well on top of the fabric even if my writing is terrible lol.

I had some gold acrylic left over so I used it to edge the pages and then I used a black pencil to add some corners.  It turned out a little differently to how I thought it was going to but I like its messiness.

Another beautiful piece of fabric, you have created a fabulous page with the reindeers seeming to dance in the snow. Thank you for linking to Chris’s theme at AJJ.

love both deer and blue color. And what is written about the snow being pretty. 🙂

I love those dancing reindeer Elle. It is the perfect page for your weather (as you described it). And the splatters are a perfect addition for a bit of texture too. Hope you warm up a bit tomorrow. Hugs-Erika
