Hello friends, and Happy Monday!
Here’s to a creative new week! Can you believe there are only two days left in November? This month has just flown by and I have just managed to keep up with doing Art Every Day Month every day! That’s a big improvement on last year where I was only able to join in a few times last November. I made a couple of changes to the blog at the weekend, did you notice? It’s probably not that obvious but I changed the usual white background of the blog posts from white to a wintery pale blue and on the blog page I added back the sidebar! Not only that but I have a new FB page, my old one which I’d had since 2012 disappeared last year without a trace, but now I have a new one and it’s linked to IG to make all that stuff easier. I’m not a huge fan of social media but if you’re going to do it then it may as well be as easy as possible, so job done.
today’s art . . .
Today I am sharing an art journal page that I made when I came home tonight which is why my post is so late! I had to go to Boots to pick something up and while I was there I also picked up their free Christmas gift guide which was destined to be used in this spread. When I got home, the postman had left a Home Hardware brochure with the mail. I have no idea where the nearest one is but we get so many of these brochures! That too got recycled into my journal page!
This art journal page is today’s offering for Day 29 of Art Every Day Month. It also has a bit of weather included and it’s wintery so I am sharing it with AJJ and TIOT too, links at the end.
I did plan to use the front cover but I decided instead to save that for something else as the paper is really thick and used some of the pages from the inside, so it started off looking like this…
I love succulents so I had to include this whole page display of them, not very festive but it was very green and was just what I needed to fill the space next to the table of contents page! Here are some closer looks at the finished page…
The mistletoe and the green JOY were cut from some of the Boots magazine pages.
The Christmas trees came from the Home Hardware brochure.
The gold snowflakes also came from that brochure. I painted on a couple of shadowy green background trees behind the white frosted tree.
The quote stamp is again from the Winter set by Alison Bomber, and the face stamp is Lynne Perrella. It normally faces right but I did a bit of magic to get it to stamp facing left!
To finish off the page, I did a bit of journalling with my gold pen, all about what I would like for Christmas. 🙂 If you missed any November AEDM posts so far – check them out in the slider below. Only one day left!!!

A fantastic page Elle and a super way to recycle the images from store magazines, the page is a joy to look at. Thank you for linking with the themes over at Try it on Tuesdays and at Art Journal Journey.

What fabulous page Elle! I love using magazines and flyers – mainly in my junk journals.
You did a brilliant transformation of the page too! Thanks so much for sharing both at TIOT and for my AJJ theme
A woman after my own heart. I also recycle and junk mail is always high on my list. I love how you incorporatedthe trees and your gold pen shows up well. Thanks, too, for sharing this with us at Art Journal Journey using Chris’s theme. It’s a stunning entry.
And thanks for joining us at AJJ. I clicked off and realized I forgot to say thanks.
That’s an exciting holiday inspired page Elle. I like those hanging gold leaves you used. They work great to help make this page festive. I like the trees you added and the layout as a whole. I spent my day decorating the house and sadly, never made it into the studio. Hopefully tomorrow. Have a great end of November. Hugs-Erika
a good looking art journal. Many different pieces to like 🙂
Great recycling, it’s a gorgeous festive page Elle!
Happy AEDM
